What is AdmitYogi?

Very simply, AdmitYogi is a marketplace of college apps examples. We pay college students to upload their college apps, and high schoolers pay us to read them.

It's far cheaper than hiring a college consultant, yet just as effective. (Don't just listen to me. See these testimonials from students and parents we've been lucky to help.)

My Role

As one of three employees, I wore a lot of hats. During our ownership, my responsibilities ranged from monetization strategies and marketing formulas to product design and user experience.

Our Unique Grit for Marketing

Today, AdmitYogi has 250K+ users and 100K+ followers. As Chief Marketing Officer, I worked to encrust our product in a trustworthy brand, and its benefits spread. Our ads and emails received click-rates that are 8x higher than the industry average:

  • We market to two groups: college students (supply) and applicants (demand)

  • I designed demand-side ads that reached a 5.3% CTR

  • I A/B tested supply-side emails that reached a 26% CTR

Building a Strong Product

Our process was incredibly empirical. After extensive interviews. we honed in on an idea for a democratized solution. Here's how we iterated our user experience:

  • Privacy. Many users were timid to share their essays because of personal or identifiable stories. We took weeks to iterate an in-depth redaction tool that gives everyone control over the nitty-gritty.

  • Personalization. In heartfelt interviews with applicants, we learned their criteria for a role model, and developed filters for first-gen applicants to find a fitting mentor.

  • Speed. It started out as a half-hour process of copy-pasting your essays. We kept innovating our automated application scraper to now take only a couple minutes.

Impact

$6,000. That's the average cost of a college consultant. Not everyone can afford that. AdmitYogi advocates for the 99% of college applicants that fall through the cracks of elite consulting, costing $5-15 per profile.

Today, a quarter million students and parents invite AdmitYogi as a trusted resource in their admissions process, and the testimonies speak for themselves. Our students are 5x likelier to get into top 50 schools, breaking barriers to educational access.

Acquisition

AdmitYogi was acquired by Crimson Education. At $590M, it is the world's largest college consultancy.
